St. Norbert College (SNC), a nationally-ranked, private, Catholic, liberal arts college invites applications for a Financial Aid Counselor. This position provides counseling and awarding of financial aid to students ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies and regulations.
Specific responsibilities:
Provide counseling to prospective and continuing students and families on the financial aid eligibility and application process, including types of aid available, costs, financing options, and outside scholarships.
Review FAFSA results, interpret tax forms and schedules, and verify the information provided on the FAFSA application. Identify and apply specified federal regulations to data required for verification. Identify conflicting information and interpret guidelines for resolution.
Award federal, state, and institutional aid in accordance with federal, state, and institutional policies/regulations for both graduate and undergraduate students.
Manage federal, state and/or private aid/scholarship programs (i.e. federal loans, grants, federal work-study, state aid programs, private loans, scholarships, etc.). This includes ensuring students are paid accurately and timely, certifying loans and/or submitting state vouchers, disbursing aid and reconciling funds between the college and the federal/state government in accordance with federal, state or institutional policies and/or regulations.
Represent the college at on-campus and off-campus events that pertain to financial aid. This includes developing financial aid presentations and materials, as well as presenting.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred in a related field.
Minimum of 1 year of financial aid experience required.
Banner database experience is a plus.
Knowledge of federal, state, and institutional policies and regulations is preferred.

Skilled in basic math computations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft Office, Google Apps, Workday) and ability to learn upgrades and new programs as needed.
Ability to exercise good judgement and decisions in an expeditious manner.
Skilled at setting a good example for others.
Skilled at organizing events, programs, projects and see them through to completion.
Skilled at making presentations to large (>100) groups of people.
Ability to concentrate and focus in a noisy environment.
