The University of Michigan-Dearborn is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Assistant Program Manager to join our Financial Aid team. This dynamic role is responsible for the primary oversight and administration of specific federal, state, and institutional programs (e.g., Pell Grants, Direct Loans, or R2T4) based on departmental needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Compliance: Lead the administration of assigned aid programs, ensuring strict adherence to Title IV federal and state regulations.

  • Data & Systems Management: Manage file transmissions between the Department of Education and the University; resolve disbursement rejects and perform monthly reconciliations.

  • Eligibility & Counseling: Analyze complex tax returns and financial data to determine aid eligibility and exercise professional judgment for extenuating circumstances.

  • Strategic Growth: Assist in SIS (Banner) enhancements and process improvements to streamline student service.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 2–3 years of experience in financial aid, IT, or a related field.

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to proactively resolve complex regulatory issues.

  • Must not be in default or overpayment on any Title IV Federal Programs.
